Frankfurt, Germany (AP) – Eintrohad Frankfurt has strengthened squads that have been exhausted by the sale of the Japanese winger Ritsu Doan Hugo Ekitique We are ready to return to the Champions League.
Doan was the top scorer with 10 goals as German club Freiburg was on a five-year contract and the team finished fifth in the Bundesliga.
“I’m so happy to be here,” Doan said in a video message translated to Frankfurt fans. “I can’t wait to play in front of the supporters.”
Frankfurt is back in the Champions League this season after a third-place Bundesliga finish, but will be hit with a new look after striker Ekitique is sold to Liverpool for a fee of £69 million ($93.5 million).
Doan, 27, is expected to work with another new signature of former Mainz striker Jonathan Burcard, who is Ekitique’s centre-forward role.
Doan won the Dutch Cup at PSV Eindhoven in 2022, playing 57 games for the Japanese national team. This includes all games in Qatar at the 2022 World Cup and roles to secure qualifications for next year’s World Cup in the US, Canada and Mexico.
Doan was able to make his Frankfurt debut on August 17th in a German cup game with the fifth Engers. The first Bundesliga game of the Frankfurt season will take place at home six days later at the Werder Bremen home.
