Crew, UK (AP) – Police in northwestern England are trying to use “DNA tagging spray” to suppress the disorderly behavior of football fans this season.
Cheshire police said on Wednesday that officers will be equipped with spray in all four levels of the area, including Crew Alexandra’s match against Ashundon Stanley on Saturday.
The spray marks your equipment, clothing and skin with unique, invisible, encoded synthetic DNA solutions that can be used for forensic evidence. It “climbed to skin and clothing for months,” police said. The spray appears under the UV rays.
“We know that the vast majority of football fans follow the law, but unfortunately, there are times when there are people who have the intention to cause obstacles, which is why a strong policing operation is essential.”
“I’m sure this new tool will make a real difference,” he added.
