NEWCASTLE, UK (AP) — Newcastle signed goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on an in-season loan deal from Southampton, who was demoted on Saturday.
Newcastle announced its signature on that website Premier League club coach Eddie Howe calls 27-year-old Ramsdale “an extraordinary goalkeeper who adds more quality and international experience to our team.”
England International was previously number one in Arsenal, but later lost his place and joined Southampton on a four-year contract. He couldn’t prevent the club from making 30 appearances in the Top Division last season.
With five British caps, Ramsdale looks forward to hearing the support of his home fans as one of the players, not as a visitor goalkeeper.
“It’s great to be here. I’ve always loved coming here and have seen how passionate, loud and loud our fans are,” he said. “I’ve always loved playing at St. James Park. I haven’t always had the biggest results, but when the fans get behind you, it’s somewhere.”
Newcastle will launch its Premier League campaign at Aston Villa on August 16th.
