MUNICHEN (AP) — Bayern Munich midfielder Alexander Pavlovich appears to have been hit again with the bad luck of injuries and illness.
The German champion said on Saturday that Pavlovich had undergone surgery after destroying his eye socket during a team training session on Friday.
Bayern hadn’t said exactly how the injury happened or how long Pavlovich would be out.
The 21-year-old Pavlovic is considered one of the best young defensive midfielders in world football, but has already won a list of occasional absent injuries and illnesses.
Pavlovic suffered from tonsillitis in the groundbreaking season from 2023-24 and was removed from the German team at Euro 2024 due to illness. Last season he spelled out with a fractured collarbone and a glandular fever.
Bayern’s season begins on August 16th against Stuttgart in the German Super Cup.
