Thessaloniki, Greece (AP) — Former Barcelona forward Carls Perez missed a match against Greek club Alice on Thursday due to a dog bite that requires dog biting.
Perez, 27, is lending Azerbaijan club Araz Naxavan at Alice, who hosted the UEFA Conference League qualifying round.
Two days ago, Perez went for a walk with his dog.
“I had the misfortune of being bitten on the inside of my leg, but I was a minor and tried to separate the dog from another dog during an unexpected incident,” Perez wrote on Instagram.
“The stitches that require scratches are not serious, but they do not prevent them from being in optimal condition to compete tonight.”
Perez wrote, “I’m very sorry,” he couldn’t be on the field.
He adds that he is “recovering at home,” and expects he will return to the team in a few days.
Thursday’s match ended with a 2-2 draw. Araz-Naxçıvan had scored 2-1 in his first leg, so he went with a tally score of 4-3.
Perez rose through Barcelona’s youth system and made his La Liga Liga debut in 2019. He later transferred to Rome and then to Celta.
