Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit and husband and husband of tennis icon Serena Williams, is once again investing in the future of women’s sports. Ohanian, known for being known for her pioneering support of female athletes, made a bold new move by becoming a minority and executive of Chelsea FC women, one of Europe’s most dominant clubs.
According to a British Media report, Ohanian won a 10% stake in the Women’s Super League champions with around 20 million people.

This is not his first major venture into women’s sports. In 2020, Ohanian was a founding investor for Angel City FC, a Los Angeles NWSL expansion team. This early investment paid off beautifully when the club sold for $250 million in 2024, making it one of the most valuable teams in women’s soccer.
“The silver lining for women’s sports was that they were underinvestment. They were investing very easily. You can try anything you want.

Chelsea FC women are having a historic season. Undefeated in league play with 19 wins and three draws, they have already secured the WSL title and League Cup. The upcoming FA Cup final victory against Manchester United will complete the Treble.
“As the founding control owner of @WeareAngelcity, I have previously placed a big bet on women’s sports. I’m doing it again. I’m proud to announce that I’m participating in @ChelseaFCW as a minority owner and executive,” Ohanian posted.
His passion clearly resonated with his wife, Serena Williams.
“One more of @776Fund and @Alexisohanian,” she wrote.
But Ohanian’s vision goes beyond titles and trophies. He is speaking out about leveling sports arenas not just in terms of money, but also in terms of respect and infrastructure.
“These players are rewriting the game. An undefeated season. Keep an eye on the treble. But this isn’t just about winning the title. Finally, it’s about combining talent with resources, visibility and respect,” he said.
