“As a national sports governing body, our role is to ensure that as many people as possible have access to football as possible, as it operates in accordance with international soccer laws and policies defined by UEFA and FIFA. Because of this definition, the English FA considers compliance with those stipulated by the court. Therefore, from June 1st, transgender women will not be able to play women’s soccer in the UK’s professional leagues.

According to data from the English Football Association, there are 20 trans women registered in amateur soccer in the UK, but none in professional soccer.
