According to various sources, the accident occurred at 65 km on A-52 and is heading to Benavente, near the Zamora area of Sanabria. Reports say one of the Lamborghini Harakun tires they were driving was blown away, turning the car off the road, hitting the median barrier and setting fire.
The news came as a shock, and the message of mourning on social media was quick. Celebrities, teams and sports figures have expressed sadness to the families of footballers, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, Portuguese Diogo’s teammates since 2019.
Fans and sports enthusiasts also expressed their sadness, including Prince William. In this painful moment of not knowing competition, known for his fanaticism for Aston Villa, the colour of his jersey took the back seat.
Through the Prince and Princess’ official X account of Wales, the heirs of the British throne wrote with respect and emotion.
“As part of the football family, I am deeply saddened to hear of Diogo Jota and his brother’s passing. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone who knew him.
