Oliver Glasner has not yet been offered a new contract from Crystal Palace and is one of the potential successors in the event of Reuben Amorim being fired from Man United.
Oliver Glasner has continued his relationship with Manchester United, but Adam Wharton is raising new questions about the future of his manager, Crystal Palace. Despite a 2-0 victory over Sunderland at Old Trafford on Saturday, Reuben Amorim remains under pressure.
Glasner is just one of many who are considered the most likely replacement if Amorim is fired by United’s organization. The Austrian is already in the final 12 months of his contract with Selhurst Park, and last week he revealed that no new contracts have been offered yet.
And Wharton admitted, “Obviously, as people’s contracts get closer, there’s always speculation, but I’ve seen the impact he’s had here and how we played, so I think the longer he stays, the better it will be.
“But there’s a chance that something could happen, so I’ll see.”
Speaking recently to the Austrian version of Kicker, Glasner did not deny the possibility of replacing Amorim at Old Trafford. He said, “I follow all the rumours, but that’s all. I’m neutral and totally relaxed.
“I try to focus on my daily work with players and coaches and enjoy it as much as possible.”

However, in his post-winning speech against the Black Cats, Mason Mount claimed that his teammates were helping Amorim to turn things around. “We are 100% supporters of the perpetrator’s comments,” he said.
“We’ve had some consequences that hurt our teams, our staff and our fans, but that was important today. We have to start building something.
“I thought something would start after we beat Chelsea, but we went to Brentford and it was a disappointing result.
“Since it starts today, I will continue to work hard during the break. I hope to win in a row and then three wins in a row, and move forward towards the top four.”
However, Jamie Carrager believes that Amorim will be “inevitable” to be fired from United before Christmas.
“I don’t like saying that the manager should be fired. That’s rude and that’s a guy’s job. But I’m at a stage where I don’t think Reuben Amorim’s job can be maintained,” he said at the Overlap Fan Debate offered by Skybett.
“This kind of thing will happen before Christmas. His performance is incredible for a Manchester United manager. He has played in 50 games as Manchester United manager, only two more goals than he has conceded.”
