Reuben Amorim has recovered from his lasting anterior cruciate ligament injury in February without Lisandro Martinez all season
Manchester United plans to welcome Lisandro Martinez out of injury by the end of the calendar year. Martinez, 27, has been on the sidelines since February after ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in a collision with Crystal Palace.
The defender began taking part in outdoor training towards the end of United’s preseason tour in late July, adding to the Red Devils’ new six-man leadership group by boss Reuben Amorim. While Martinez still trains individually while continuing his rehabilitation, United hopes to be able to return following the international break in November.
The Sun reports that medical staff are planning to ease Martinez and return to Carrington’s teammate and Amorim’s team who were in the vicinity. Last month, Argentina traveled to Etihad Stadium to provide support in the face of Manchester City.
On another show of commitment to the Red Devils, Martinez has been late to watch training sessions and join a team meeting. It’s not the first time the former Ajax star has been forced to watch from bystanders since joining United in a deal of up to £56.7 million in 2022.
Martinez fractured a middle bone in April 2023 and requested corrective surgery five months later, leaving him out until January 2024.

Calf tensions helped United win the FA Cup before he missed out on the run-in of that year. Last season, Martinez, who had a clean health commander, suffered an ACL injury in a 2-0 defeat at the palace in February and has not played for the club or country since.
Amorim has picked out the 27-year-old as one of the reasons for his struggles this season.

Lukeshaw began all United Premier League matches in the role of Martinez as left centre-back. Amorim preferred the left footer in that position, and despite the show being a fullback in trade, he nodded to Aiden Heaven, where the humiliating Carabao Cup in August began to be defeated in the town of Grimsby.
