Chelsea’s Moises Kayseko has insisted that despite a thrilling victory over Liverpool over the weekend, it’s “too early” to label the Blues as a title contender. Despite the volatile start of the season, Chelsea are just four points behind the reigning champion champion, behind five people behind Arsenal, thanks to Estebao Willian’s last minute winner at Stamford Bridge.
After finishing fourth last season, head coach Enzo Maresca is looking to bring more of his team this year, speculating that youthful teams can take on Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City. However, Caicedo, who scored the opening goal in Saturday’s game, dismissed such claims and also outlined the team’s ambitions for the season. “It’s too early to say we’re going to win,” Kaiseko said. “It’s true that I want to win the Premier League. The Premier League is tough so we’ll go in stages, but I’ll do my best.”
“We showed quality. We showed character on the pitch. We wanted to continue this moment.” Kaiseko’s stunning strike sent Stamford Bridge in a frenzy, but all eyes were on Estevao, who won the match.
The 18-year-old was one of the most promising talents in the Premier League and soon found his foot in West London. His last minute goal was his first competitive goal in British football, but his performance has been impressive up to now. Chelsea has taken a cautious approach when adapting to new clubs, countries and cultures.
When asked about the impact of Estevao on Liverpool, Kaiseko said: “It’s a great feeling that Estevao scored. He’s doing a great job here. We’re happy with him. You’re on the pitch, even in training, he sees something very good.
“The Premier League is very different and he’s making an impact here, so we tried to help him. We’re very pleased with him here.”
Chelsea will not return to action until October 18th for an international break heading to Nottingham Forest before hosting Ajax.
