Reuben Amorim sighed with a big relief as Manchester United beat Sunderland 2-0 2-0 in comfortable fashion at Old Trafford. It’s a performance, and it’s actually a result, which contrasts with what Amorim and United have become accustomed to before this season.
After disappointment last weekend, Old Trafford followers welcomed United’s comfortable start, with Mason Mount scoring in the opening ten minutes. It was a neat finish from the midfielder when the midfielder returned to the first XI, with Benjamin Sesco adding a second from close range in the first half. The fear of a late penalty threatened to derail what was a strong show in the first half, but the decision was correctly overturned after a VAR review.
The second half was much tame, but in a way it touches Amorim even more. United’s clean sheets were rarely threatened as the Red Devils won three consecutive home matches in the Premier League. Express ratings of United victory and sports handout players from Sunderland
Senne Lammens -6
Perhaps a surprising inclusion in Starting XI, but it appears that the prospect of making a Premier League debut at Old Trafford had no impact on the Belgians. He didn’t take action very often, but whenever he was forced to get involved he certainly seemed comfortable doing so.
Renee Yoro-7
It’s hard to forget that he’s only 19 years old. A player with cool customers and potential buckets. This season, it looked comfortable with a unified backline that has sometimes looked unstable so far.
Matthijs de ligt -6
He was excluded from the Dutch team early in the week, but responded with a solid performance in the United defense.
Luke Show-7
This means that seven Premier Leagues will begin in a row for the British. He was another impressive performer on the United backline.
Amado-6
He hasn’t returned to the form he saw occasionally told last season, but he has offered plenty on the right side to show that he can become a useful member of the United team in the future. At times it looked a little dull from attacks.
Casemiro -6
It lasted longer than the previous Old Trafford outing against Chelsea, where he was sent off in the first half. The midfielder cleaned well and helped glue the attacks in defense.
Bruno Fernandez-7
There was a suggestion that United’s Talisman should drop out of the first XI, but the midfielder showed why he is the captain with a steel performance in the middle of the park. The ground was covered at both ends of the pitch and they were not afraid to take part in the dirty defensive work.
Diogo Dalot -6
It has been criticised by United fans over the past few weeks, but it was a solid performance from the Portuguese ace. He barked orders to his teammates throughout the game, and certainly carried the bulk of the lackluster leadership burden.
Bryan Mbeumo -6
It was impossible to blame his efforts, and the new signature was rioted in the final third. On another day, he may have got his goal, but the attacker lacked the required quality whenever there was a goal sight.
Benjamin Sesco-7
One positive defeat from Brentford’s defeat was United’s new striker dropping off the mark in the Premier League. It appears he did a world of good as the Slovenians are in the right place to bring a loose ball home in the penalty area midway through the first half. If a penalty decision had been there, it would have been definitely made, but that is another step in the right direction.
Mason Mount-8
Added a much-needed touch of dynamism to the United Front 3 and was rewarded with a well-taked ball. If he can keep himself foreseeable, he will certainly help United and Amorim with their fate.

Patrick Dorgue-6
There were bright sparks from the bench, and it was close to contributing to the third United goal of death.
Matheus Cunha -6
Apparently tidy from the bench, he approached United’s third snatch in the afternoon, but in the first half the alarm bell would have been ringing for the former female ace. United look much more comfortable with just the two new attackers in the starting lineup, with Mount adding more balance to the forward line. Probably an unnecessary issue between Amorim and Brazilian international.
Kobbie Mainoo -6
Although he has not started any Premier League games so far this season, his introduction was filled with plenty of cheers in the second half.
