Reuben Amorim is under pressure at Manchester United, Gareth Southgate has long been praised by Ir Jim Ratcliffe and is debated as a potential alternative if Portuguese is fired
Former England boss Gareth Southgate refuses to approach Manchester United if Reuben Amorim is fired. The former three Lions Chiefs were the main contenders to become United bosses in March 2024 when they thought the club’s top brass was x Eric 10 hugs.
But Southgate will focus on that summer European Championship, where he will bring nothing during his lead England to the final. United were eager to talk to Southgate, but he refused to make all the progress. Ten Hag stayed, won the FA Cup and was fired in November last year, and Amorim was at the helm.
After the English euro was exhibited in Germany, Southgate chose to stop and then took a break from the game. He hasn’t returned to football since then, but instead focuses on engagement and motivational work. Interestingly, he also secures a job hosting the BBC shows.

It is understood that Southgate is not in a hurry to return to football. But he keeps his options open, both in-game and outside.
He has been seen in many games in recent months, as well as other sporting events, and remains intimate with many of his former free agency colleagues.
However, Southgate is also a close friend of Dan Ashworth. Dan Ashworth had a long-term plan to appoint Southgate when he worked for United. Ashworth lasted just five months in his role as a sports director.
Current United boss Amorim is under increasing pressure after the team’s shambolic start to the season. The Red Devils only won two of their seven games in all competitions.
The United boss claims that Amorim still has full support and that he has no plans to loot him as it is. United also distanced themselves from claims the club had made direct contact with Southgate.
They will hold a high-flying Sunderland this weekend before an international break, after which Amorim’s men will face a difficult trip to their bitter rival Liverpool.
If the Portuguese doesn’t win in any of these games, Ratcliffe may have no choice but to consider taking away his face, as he unites in an area of £15 million in compensation, despite having fired Amorim and his staff in his back room.
