Man UTD must ignore Jamie Karager and Wayne Rooney when making the decision for Reuben Amorimsack

Critics have told Manchester United boss to give Ruben Amorim boots, but despite his defeat at Brentford last Saturday, he is said to have not yet been under immediate threat

When discussing the work being done by Reuben Amorim, Wayne Rooney had to secretly admit that he did not come from the exact position of strength. He really had no choice.

“I tried my hand with management, but it didn’t work, so I got it,” said former manager of Plymouth Argyle, D.C. United, City of Birmingham. Didn’t it go well?

Wayne has that spot on. In 178 matches as manager, Rooney recorded just 45 wins. That’s a win rate of 25.3. Even in his difficult 11 months at Old Trafford, Amorim’s win rate is 36.73. Beyond his 308-game management career, it is 65.91.

Of course, just because Rooney proves to be a failed manager shouldn’t negate his criticism of Amorim’s regime. That may undermine his opinion, but Rooney’s suggestion that Amorim’s tenure appears to be doomed is not uncommon.

Rooney’s fellow scorer Jamie Carrager reached out. “I don’t want to see anyone lose their job, but waving and moving on is good for everyone.”

Well, first of all, if Amorim leaves, there is no guarantee that it will be better for anyone. More importantly, there are only six games in the Premier League season.

Manchester United have scored seven points from these six games. There is no more to write in the house than Newcastle United and Aston Villa have won.

They were certainly consistent in these half-dozen matches, and their defense in the loss at Brentford was awful. However, the only statistic that is actually important is the number of points columns, but there are numbers that suggest positive directions at the start of Amorim’s first full season rep.

United are the top of the expected goal chart, and have tried more on goal than any other Premier League team – an average under 16 per fixture. Certainly, these numbers seem to confirm the truth behind the old lines about lies, terrible lies and statistics, but perhaps United wasn’t as bad as most critics say.

Many people believe that Amorim should be fired before reaching his overall job on the anniversary of his appointment point, not the first half-dozen Premier League matches of the season. And the truth is, 34 points from 33 Premier League matches are relegated form.

However, Ir Jim Ratcliffe and his football business seem to have decided that this season – something he can properly prepare – will essentially be the real beginning of Amorim’s project. And they shouldn’t judge the actual start after only six Premier League matches.

Three Marquee Summer Signatures – Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko take time to settle into the rhythm. That’s normal.

And it would require the acquisition of multiple transfer windows and at least one high quality central midfielder to sort out the problems of Old Trafford’s deep forces. No, this isn’t enough from Manchester United, and Amorim has so much to prove.

But while a lot has already been wrong since Ratcliffe and his choices were bought to United earlier last year, it’s not one of them that gives Amorim enough time to get things right. They are righteous to keep their faith.
