The build-up between Chelsea vs Benfica was on Jose Mourinho’s return, but blues midfielder Enzo Fernandez was also reunited with his team.
Jose Mourinho intervened to calm Benfica supporters after throwing a missile at Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. The accumulation of Champions League clashes between Portuguese heavyweights and the West Londoners focused on Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge.
However, in the clash, blues midfielder Enzo Fernandez is reunited with his former team two years after joining Chelsea for £105 million. In the first half, the World Cup winner met with his former fanbase at Stamford Bridge.
He praised his former fans as he walked towards them and turned the corner. However, they didn’t appreciate his gestures as many of the fans responded by throwing missiles at him.

After seeing what was going on, Mourinho left his technical area and marched both his arms in the air towards the fans away. He was trying to calm the fans down and was able to resume the match.
Benfica fans stopped throwing objects at Fernandez, but continued to ride Argentina with every touch of the ball. Luckily for Maresca’s part, the midfielder didn’t bother with a less-sounding reception from his previous fanbase.
He gave a controlled performance against Mourinho’s side, contributing the ball as well as the ball. He has already contributed three goals and one assist in eight appearances in all competitions this season.
His strong start to the campaign followed his impressive show last season, where he helped with nine goals and 17 assists in 53 appearances in all competitions.
