Liverpool and Manchester United are long-term rivals, but the latter could unconsciously support Merseysiders with one of their transfer goals
If Manchester United decided to let go of Reuben Amorim and appoint Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, they could carelessly help Liverpool’s Mark Guech in their pursuit. The 51-year-old Glasner recently passed the first loss of the season after Palace scored a 2-1 victory with goals from both sides of Federico Chiesa equalizers, Ismaila Saa and Eddie Nketia.
Glasner’s reputation is growing as the Palace sits in second place and maintains an unbeaten start to the new campaign. Meanwhile, United suffered a 3-1 away loss on Brentford, putting more pressure on Amorim.
After the match, Glasner skillfully avoided questions about recent rumors linking him to the move to United. If United could rock the FA Cup winner to Old Trafford, they could find that they would help Liverpool’s Guech pursuit.

Talksport recently claimed that Glasner is part of a three-person nominee list featuring former England manager Gareth Southgate and Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola. If United secures Glasner, it could speed up their departure from Selhurst Park in Grech due to the advantages of Liverpool.
Liverpool is understood to be keen to sign Guehi when he becomes available as a free agent next summer. England International is reportedly still keen to move to Anfield despite a last-minute transfer deadline deal to the Reds.
Guehi could reverse his stance and fresh conditions at Selhurst Park.
The Palace is currently enjoying a spectacular campaign and is climbing to its second spot in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Amorim struggles in 14th place after his defeat to Brentford.
The United Chief, which ended last season on the 15th of last season, currently holds a 27.3% victory percentage. This resembles Graham Potter, the former West Ham United boss who took over the weekend as Nuno Espirito Santo.
When Glasner was quized about recent speculations linking him to the Austrian publication kicker, he chose not to clarify his stance. He said: “I follow all the rumours. That’s it. Be neutral and completely relaxed, (i) focus on daily work with players and coaches, and enjoy as much as possible.”

He said: “It all depends on all the answers I’ve always given me if we get more injuries, and whether we have a chance, and whether there’s a chance in the market. I wouldn’t like going to a 24/7 player.
“We haven’t had five or six injuries at the same time throughout the season. If that’s the case, we’ll be 15/16 players and it’s usually going to be difficult.”
