Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho declared he was always “special” for the club until another manager surpassed his three Premier League title record. Mourinho, who is currently at the helm of Benfica, is preparing for an emotional return to Stamford Bridge, where he enjoys two successful stints.
Despite being booed by Chelsea fans during his 2017 return to Manchester United, Mourinho looks back with humor, the moment he responds by declaring “Judas is one.” He claims that Chelsea will always hold a special place in his heart, and that he will remain their most successful manager.
Mourinho, who called it “What’s special” when he arrived in British football, said, “Chelsea is a winning machine that we’ve spent the last two or several years without a trophy, but Chelsea won something before my time and then my team kept winning.
“Then, new teams, new coaches, more trophies, European trophies, biggest trophies, Champions League transformation. So Chelsea is a winning machine. It’s the biggest car until someone wins four.”
In an astonishing turn, Mourinho also praised Enzo Maresca’s work. He believes he is likely to win the Champions League title this season after his Club World Cup victory.
The Portuguese boss added:
“The Champions League is much more difficult to win than the Club World Cup. Of course, Chelsea could do that. There’s no reason to say no. Chelsea can’t do that.”
Chelsea is currently being investigated by the FA and the Premier League for 74 claims related to third-party issues and rules violations over strict agent rules during the period Mourinho was in charge.
It doesn’t mean that Mourinho was involved in the fraud, but he has previously spoken out about Manchester City and its charges, which could be a point deduction and record.
When asked about the charges against Chelsea, Mourinho replied: “Not Man City? I don’t know about it. I don’t know what the accusations are. I’ll try to understand them.”
