Farrah Williams’ column: What Reuben Amorim can learn from Oliver Glasner, and why is Jose Mourinho loved in Chelsea?

Firstly, I think the three behind the three palaces – Mark Guech, Maxens Lacroix and Chris Richards – are better than the United defenders. Daniel Munoz can be argued that he is better than Diogo Darotto, and I think Tyrick Mitchell was probably the most consistent left-back in the Premier League in recent years.

The five are consistent in the palace, but this is always important. The big difference with United is that they constantly change and spin the entire back. Reuben Amorim continues to change his backline before and during the game, so there is no consistent balance.

He could point out five Palace backs alongside Dean Henderson in the goal, but it won’t change unless he’s injured. At United, we wonder who starts the goal, who is in that back three, and who will play as wingback.

There was inconsistent. In terms of building these relationships, connections, and communication lines, it is that Amorim is wrong and the palace has the right thing. Oliver Glasner has become a team that is extremely difficult to break them down. They are in harmony with each other and understand their role better than United players.

They have a great balance with incredible player Adam Wharton in the midfield and hopefully the palace can protect him as he controls the game for them.

Looking up at the top, you can see what you’re expecting from the Jean-Philippe Mateta, but I don’t think United has found anything that works on the front 3. Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo play a little wider, but the two of them aren’t that exposed midfield as they probably need to come in more central and help.

At United, Amorim keeps players spinning continuously and rarely goes out in the same starting lineup. If you’re going to play with five or three, you need to make sure the details are correct. I don’t think I can name a United team that I’ve played back in a row since he was in charge.

Compared to women’s games, I always say that United’s team has enjoyed consistent backline and goalkeeper over the past few years. It’s no coincidence that they only acknowledge one goal in the WSL this season, and it’s a small point that they’re behind leader Chelsea. Consistency is everything.

In my opinion, the reaction to Amorim’s body language on the bystander is exaggerated. I was playing in the stadium, where only 2,000 people were present.

These guys play in front of up to 80,000 people each week, so they don’t have time to see the manager’s response. I don’t think these players will be able to hear what is being said on the sidelines.

You must already know the details of the game plan in advance. It’s all about the manager trusting that he can do what the player has been preparing for the whole week. What we see in the bystander body language is an annoyed manager who thinks his players are not carrying out his plans on the pitch.

When I play, if I made a mistake or the team admitted a goal, my first thought is not to look at the manager, I doubt it will play in the men’s game.

I don’t know what I can do as a bystander and a manager.

I’m sitting in a dugout playing with a manager who doesn’t say much. I remember Hope Powell being a very gentle manager and rarely screaming his head. But under Matt Beard, my absolute idolised manager, he was someone everyone could hear, but he was so passionate I couldn’t always hear what he was saying.

There was a time when we told him to sit on the stand so that we could actually hear what he was saying, compared to the touchline down. We were laughing about it.

As a Chelsea fan, I always remember the good times under Jose Mourinho and the success he brought to the club. I think the way we helmed with him in the Premier League and other trophies is always a fan favorite. He knows that too.

He managed Manchester United and Tottenham, but he probably had the best memories of the club during his time in England, so he knows that Chelsea is his home.

I think there’s a really good relationship between Mourinho and the club ahead of his return with Benfica in the UEFA Champions League.

He is the one person I wanted to meet. I’ve spoken with his former players in the past and they’ve always talked about his people management skills and the beliefs he’s put into players. He could get more from them than they ever believed possible.

I want to choose his brain and see how he works. Because I love hearing him in interviews. For me, he is so funny and I come across it as a nice guy. The fun and charismatic aspects for him in recent years have probably been a little different as he experiences fewer successes compared to the early parts of his management career.

But I think he’s perfect for the game in a variety of ways. He is a very clever and intelligent person. Especially when it comes to football, you can see and feel his passion for the game. This is something I really like.

Arsenal always knew they could beat big teams in a one-off game, as they showed on their way to win the Women’s Champions League last season. But the question is, why are they doing it in WSL and not so consistent that they really compete with Chelsea?

They dominated the game in terms of ownership and opportunity, but a small lapse that was concentrated in the set pieces in the 94th minute left them on one point instead of three, which is a huge disappointment.

In WSL, there aren’t many games to play. So the back-to-back draw is already fifth, four points behind champion Chelsea. Before they know it, I think Arsenal will be disappointed, especially when the Champions League comes back, as they could soon fall behind in the title race. This means you need to manage your teams in two games week.

Arsenal has enough depth to the team, so for manager Rennie Slegger, it’s about getting it right because the team is not balanced right now. She needs to find a solution very quickly.
