Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has not rejected the possibility of taking over from Manchester United’s Reuben Amorim. Despite continuing speculation about his future, he admits to being aware of rumors linking him to the move towards Old Trafford.
Questions continue to surround Amorim’s position at United following a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Brentford on Saturday. Nevertheless, Amorim still has board support and is understood to be unsolved that alternatives are not currently being sought. However, this does not subdues speculation about the future of his 40-year-old. Glasner, who led Crystal Palace to a FA Cup victory last season and in the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park, is one of the names United reportedly considered.
When asked directly about rumors that would link him to United and other “top clubs” by the Austrian version of the kicker, he replied.
“I focus on my daily work with my players and coaches and try to enjoy it as much as possible.”
After his defeat to Brentford, Amorim insisted that he believed he could succeed at Old Trafford.
He said: “I’m always happy with my job. I’m not worried. That’s not my decision. I’ll do my best every minute I’m here. I’m never worried about my job. I’m not that kind of guy.
“I’m always at work. If I win, I’m in a different state of mind. That’s normal, but I’m always confident because I know what to do. I always have a lot of responsibility on your own shoulders.
“We need to play better, we need to play better. It’s like ups and downs. When you win, you all feel that momentum is here.
“If we lose, we’ll go back to the same place and fight again for one victory that will help us build momentum.
“I can’t say more than I say whenever I lose a game. Sometimes I see teams who perform very well and see improvements, and there are some games that don’t see that improvement.
“It gives you the confidence that Manchester United will be back, so it’s always the same conversation.
“It depends on the next game. Let’s win the next game and try to improve certain things.”
