Former Arsenal forward Billy Vigar died Thursday
Two more fixtures were postponed at the stadium, and Billy Vigal suffered a “severe” brain injury before his death. The previous Arsenal forward was facing Wingete and Finchley at Chichester City when the tragedy took place.
The striker was widely reported to have been injured at Maurice Leback Stadium after colliding with a concrete wall trying to play the ball. Vigal was placed in a coma induced after the collision and underwent surgery on Tuesday, but died tragically on Thursday.
The ground where the catastrophic incident occurred is set to see rubber safety padding installed, with calls from the entire football pyramid pleading the Football Association to make changes. The stadium game was cancelled on Saturday, but Wingate and Finchley said they would not dispute the two games planned for next week.

A statement released Sunday stated, “In honor of Billy Vigar’s memory, the club has decided to postpone this Tuesday night’s two home fixtures and a Thursday night’s FA Youth Cup match.
“The club is fully discussed with the FA and we would like to thank both their understanding and actions, and we would also like to thank the Professional Football Players Association for their support in dealing with the welfare of our own players.
“The club is extremely cautious about the discussion that has continued after Billy’s death and intends to install rubber safety padding on the ground after receiving full recognition from the relevant sanctions authority.
“I won’t comment any more.”
Vigar went through the Arsenal ranks and appeared on the under-18 and under-21 years of the club before departing for a free transfer more than a year ago. At a press conference before the weekend, Mikel Arteta offered sympathy to the 21-year-old family.
“Well, when I got it yesterday, that’s shocking news,” he said. “So I think about my family and how difficult it is to go through something like this in a very unexpected way.
“And I hope they will dig deeper into what happened and why it happened. But they try to avoid this kind of thing. But really sad news, and our full support with our family and our thoughts with all our loved ones.”
