Nuno Espirito Santo has appointed head coach for New West Ham United, replacing the looted Graham Potter with a three-year contract and will take charge against Everton

West Ham United has announced that they will replace Graham Potter and appointed Nuno Espirito Santo as the new head coach on a three-year contract.

Hammer announced Potter’s firing on Saturday morning, confirming Nuno as his replacement on the same day.

His first match will be Monday night when West Ham plays Everton at Hildickinson Stadium.

“My goal is to work hard to get the best from the team and be as competitive as possible. The work has already begun and I look forward to the challenges that go on.”

Nuno will be in charge of the third Premier League club, following spells at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest.

The 51-year-old began his management career on Rio Avenue in his native Portugal before the spell in charge of Valencia and FC Porto.

He made his own name in Molineux’s English football, leading the Wolves to the Championship title in the 2017/18 campaign, securing European football with a 7th place finish the following season.

The Portuguese led the club to the quarterfinal position of the UEFA Europa League, finishing in seventh place for the next season for the second consecutive time.

He stayed at the club for another season before the unfortunate four-month spell in charge of the Spurs, who was fired in November 2021.

The spells continued in Al Ittihad, and Nuno doubled the Saudian Pro League and Super Cup before returning to England in the forest.

After being appointed in December 2023, he made European qualifiers for the East Midlands side last season, running in the FA Cup semi-finals, leading the club to Premier League survival.

Just 17 days before Mori’s dismissal, Nuno said:

“My concern is the team and season ahead of us. Our relationship has changed and we are not that close.”

“Everyone at the club should be together, but this is not the reality.”

He oversaw three games this season. This includes a 3-1 victory over Brentford, a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace and a 3-0 defeat at West Ham’s home.

His quest is to galvanize the West Ham side with one victory from five Premier League matches starting at Merseyside in two days.
