Liverpool and Real Madrid are both interested in signing Mark Guech, the latter being forced to miss another long-term target from the Premier League
While Mark Guech may have been the one who escaped during the historic summer summer to Liverpool, it is no secret that the Premier League champions still have the design to bring the English defender to Anfield.
An 11-hour U-turn from Crystal Palace Chair Steve Parish prevented Guehi from completing the switch that had already been down the line in some way at the beginning of the month.
The alleged ACL damage suffered by Giovanni Leoni further underscores the need for defensive reinforcements in Liverpool, which could even accelerate plans to introduce Guehi.
The only problem is that Guehi will not sit tight until next summer. And while Liverpool may still fantasize about the chance to land Guehi, we know that the former Chelsea guy is enjoying the opportunity to celebrate his debate with Real Madrid about his move to the Bernabeu.

Los Blancos will be in the market for new centre-backs next summer, but have already linked to some of the best in the Premier League, including Guehi, Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate and William Saliba. But at least one of them’s moves are off the card where Saliba agrees to commit a future with Arsenal.
The five-year deal agreed between the player and the club is great news for the gunners, but it’s everything for Liverpool. With Saliba out of the picture, Real Madrid’s interest in Konate could only be strengthened, especially if the French have not yet agreed to a new contract.
As Leoni has been taking photos for quite some time, Arne Slot is shining light on the central defender. Losing Conate will require two centre-halves next summer. And with Guehi now able to field offers from all over Europe, there is no guarantee that he is the lock to fill either of these two gaps.
Another possible scenario is that Real Madrid is pursuing a contract with Guech and shelved interest in Conate. That could pave the way for Liverpool to agree to a new deal with the latter, but we’ll see them miss their first defender target.
Real Madrid has been a long-term adorable Saliba, but all will be off next summer as France International is ready to spend its peak year committed at Arsenal.
Of course, significant developments could occur long before that, such as when Liverpool is about to reignite its deal with Guehi in January. But if not, the champion could be affected regardless of who Real Madrid chose to kick him out of Gaech and Conate.
