Lincoln 1-2 Chelsea: On Tuesday evening, the Blues came from behind to beat League One Side in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
Chelsea reached the fourth round of the Carabao Cup this season, securing a hard-earned 2-1 victory over League One outfit Lincoln City.
The host almost broke the deadlock early as the ball landed at the feet of Louis Montzma, who finally hit the post, as a destructive wreck of the Blues’ long throw-in. The first half was clearly slowing from Chelsea’s point of view, and it wasn’t without shock when League One Side took the lead in 42 minutes.
A dangerous pass from Enzo Fernandez to Trevo Charova was intercepted, and Rob Street ended spectacularly and proceeded with the Imp. However, the words of wisdom that Enzo Maresca conveyed to the Chelsea team during the half-time interval were clearly effective, with visitors scoring two rapid fire goals and leading with tie.
Tyrique George was equal on a furious strike from 30 yards, then set up a Facundo Buonanotte, tweaked with the club’s maiden goal.

Philip Jorgensen-3
His punches were horrifying. He ventured multiple times to command his own box, but failed to do so, leading to great uncertainty.
Malo Gusto-5
An unstable start. After slipping into the box, he almost admitted the penalty early on. From an offensive standpoint, Gusto was always trying to violate Lincoln’s defense. It’s not a great performance from the French, but he improved in the second half.
Wesley Fofana-6
Early on, he was knocked by his own goalkeeper, but managed to recover. It took him a little while to find his rhythm in the match, but he eventually settled down.
Trevoh Chalobah -4
It almost seemed to have set back from the challenge that brought street goals. Certainly, it was a poor pass from Fernandez, but Charoba should have done more with the bounce. However, he may have been aware that any contact could lead to a send-out.
Jorrel Hato -6
Of all Chelsea players, it wasn’t a high standard, the pigeons worked well. He seemed confident in the ball and looked to be successful in the duel.
Andrei Santos-6
He played too deeply and could not affect the game in his previous position. That being said, he was as neat and tidy as you would expect. Certainly not the worst player on a blue pitch.
Enzo Fernandez-4
He made a decent pass to Jamie Gittens around the Mark for 20 minutes. However, he disappointed himself when he made an overly dangerous pass towards Charoba just before halftime, giving Lincoln an advantage. He seems to be out of nowhere for now.
Jamie Gitens-5
He started on the right field for this match. A good run to the FAR Post for about 20 minutes was almost the club’s first goal. There were some bright moments, but unfortunately he wasn’t fully involved in the game.
Facundo Buonanotte -8
He scored the club’s first goal in a tidy finish, his second start, following a smart interaction with George. He also demonstrated excellent passing skills and found an intelligent space between the lines. He should have added another to his tally later.
Alejandro Garnacho-6
He was the first person to start playing the blues. He promises to carry the ball and has the trick to drawing a foul. There’s clearly more to come from him, but he did give a bright performance. He was replaced before time.
Tyrique George -8
There may have been a strong argument in the first half to replace George, or at least move him to his preferred position. However, he made an immediate impact with a good long distance strike in the second half. George then played a key role in the Blues-leading Boonatt goal.
Estevao Willian (for Garnacho 59′) -6
He wasn’t as involved as he liked his right flank after the last 30 minutes or so.
Shim Mheuka (for George 67′)-7
It was great to see a 17 year old get game time. He was physically impressive at his age and worked well in air combat.
Pedro Neto (for Gittens 67′)-7
He was lively on the right. One fast inning against Mark Kuklera was nearly to become Chelsea’s third goal in the evening. He did very well to set up Boona Knot for a golden one-on-one chance.
Marc Cucurella (For For Fernandez 67′)-7
He joined the game and took a midfield position. True to the form, Cucurella’s first action was a robust 50-50 challenge. As expected, a confident, solid display from the seasoned Spaniards.
Reggie Walsh (instead of Boonna Knot in 90′) – N/a.
He was about 10 seconds on the pitch.
