Reuben Amorim’s decision to change Manchester United’s centre-back during the victory over Chelsea has been strongly questioned by Rio Ferdinand, who was not impressed by the head coach.
Rio Ferdinand denounced Reuben Amorim for constantly spinning Manchester United centre back during the match. During the 2-1 victory over Chelsea, the decision to switch Amorim’s defense gave the Blues hope and set a tense finish that cost them almost money.
After Robert Sanchez was sent off in the fifth minute, goals from Bruno Fernandez and Casemiro allowed Old Trafford to lead 2-0. However, Casemiro was shown a red card just before halftime, and Trevo Charova took advantage of some slack defending to get home with 10 minutes remaining.
United’s weaknesses in the set piece are well known and are responsible for goalkeepers Altai Bayindeal and Andre Onana.
However, Ferdinand admits that the line of defence changes are not helping United’s cause. Speaking about his podcast, Rio Presents, Ferdinand expressed his dissatisfaction with the constant change in Amorim’s defense.

On the podcast, he said: “Do I see a winning team? Whether it’s my team or the old Reuben Amorim team with Tony Adams, Sol Campbell, or John Terry, William Glass, now (Virgil) Van Dik and (Ibrahima) Conate.
“The team’s selection is consistent and their pairings are behind them. Paris Saint-Germain, the same two centre-backs, all the way through, they’ve won the trophy.
“The consistency of players in that area of the pitch gives them a better chance to win. This chopping and change is just that I think it’s wild.
Ferdinand added:
“It’s difficult to get into the game, and they’re just stuck in the speed and rhythm of the game. That’s a difficult person.”
