Arsenal has expanded his sincere wish to former player Billy Vigar, who is now in the coma after suffering a severe head injury during a recent match against Chichester City. Gunner expressed his hope for a “speech recovery.”
The 21-year-old was part of Arsenal’s U21S team until last year when he transferred to Hastings United on a free transfer. This summer, Vigar moved to Chichester, suffering a horrific head collision after hitting a concrete wall while trying to play the ball last weekend during a match between Wingate and Finchley.
The game stopped quickly and an ambulance was promptly called to the scene. Arsenal has since publicly expressed support for its former players. They posted on social media: “I wish you a quick recovery. Billy. Everyone at Arsenal will send love and support to Billy and his loved ones during this difficult time.”
Two days after the serious incident, his club provided updates on his condition via social media. They stated:
“It’s too early to say what the outcome will be, and even if things go well, there’s a long way to go to recover first. Love from the whole CCFC Family Billy.”
Vigar never broke into Arsenal’s first team, but he was a consistent performer for under 18 and two Premier League teams. During the 2021-22 U18S Premier League season, he scored four goals and provided two assists to the academy side of the club.
He arrived at Arsenal in 2017 at the age of 14 and wrote a professional maiden contract with the Emirates in July 2022. Vigar spent one campaign in the Premier League 2 in North London outfits, registering one assist with four assists.
He was then sent on loan to Derby County U21, where he was found nine times. Many messages of support, especially from non-league clubs, are flooded with for Chichester players.
Cray Valley FC posted: “The best wishes for Billy, our thoughts are in him.”

Brentwoodtown FC added: “Our idea is with Billy and his family during this difficult and sensitive period. We all want his strength and full recovery from all of us at Brentwoodtown FC.”
