Arsenal is trying to make the most of the summer, aiming to sign Viktor Gyokeres, but their style of play is not loaned to the theatrical style of striker as he painted a blank against Man City
Mikel Arteta is said to “make Victor’s gyoker redundant” as Arsenal’s “approach to big matches based on slow and barren possession” challenges him to change his mindset to make the most of his summer signature.
Gyoker joined from Sporting Lisbon in a deal worth £64 million amid the appeal that Gunners will ultimately sign the prolific striker. The Swedes have been a huge success in Portugal, scoring three times in their previous five Premier League matches. This includes two innings with Leeds United in their first domestic match at Emirates Stadium. However, he was largely nullified against Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City.
Gyokeres could be judged to be his goal and performance, beating Arsenal’s major rivals – as Erling Haaland does. The former Coventry frontman hasn’t produced a big game yet, but Tony Cascarino believes Arteta needs to do more.
He wrote in the Times: “Arteta will need to adjust his approach in the big game to make the most of his £63 million striker and give Arsenal the best chance to win the title of this season. Gyoker has signed to push him from contender to the champion, but he won’t do so if his team can’t create anything for him.
Arsenal includes Ebebeki Eze, Noni Madueke and Martin Zubimendi.

The former Chelsea striker said, “Gyoker is doing what he can to lead the line, running with the defenders and fighting the defenders, but if the center forward teammate can’t find him, it’s Arteta.”
In recent years, Kai Herberts has emerged as the man with the most capable of leading the Arsenal line. His overall game made him a success with his link play. However, his lack of scoring instinct is cited as an issue that motivated Gyoker’s signature. However, the Germans were tilted to play before the Swedes after they returned to full fitness.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Arteta chose Kai Herberts over Gyoker after the German player returns to full fitness,” Cascarino said. “Havertz appeals to Arsenal’s approach to big matches as well as the ability to stop by to lift the ball and link plays.
“Gyoker wouldn’t have expected that it would be a possibility when he signed, but that could certainly be a reality.”
Gyoker bagged the braces against Leeds and notched them in Nottingham Forest. Arsenal eventually chased him in front of Benjamin Sesco, who was on the radar. The Slovenians later joined Manchester United, but have not yet been refused.
