On Saturday, the world of soccer was shocked by the announcement of the pass of the man who won back-to-back women’s Super League titles during his first tenure at Liverpool in 2013 and 2014.
Since the emergence of catastrophic news, Heartfelt tributes have been flooded from every corner of the football community for coaches. Her illustrious career has been at the helm of seven different clubs, including Millwall Lioness, Chelsea Women, West Ham United Women and Bristol City Women. Beard’s sudden death sent shockwaves throughout the world of football, honoring him being paid in a women’s Super League match over the weekend. The WSL match with Liverpool’s Aston Villa was postponed due to tragic events, but other clubs observed a minute of silence.
One of his former players, Farrah Williams, was comforted by his BBC Sports colleagues for paying homage to his late manager on Sunday, Wales reports online.
Beard’s grieving family also paid tribute, with son Harry taking him to social media to share precious memories of his father. In one inspiring post, he shared those photos together and captioned them.

Harry continued, posting a clip of his late father jumping into the pool.
Beard’s Nie Olivia, expressing her pathetic dol, posted a photo of herself along with the former Liverpool female boss, saying, “I will rest my beautiful uncle’s mat in eternal peace. If love could save you, you would have lived forever.”
During his first spell with the club, he secured consecutive WSL championships with Liverpool, winning the 2022 Women’s Championship title after returning to management 12 months ago.
Despite this, he was fired by the Reds this February, but the team waned in 7th place in the WSL.
Liverpool respected the beard on Saturday evening, saying, “The Liverpool Football Club is deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of former LFC female manager Matt Beard. Everyone at the club has thoughts with Matt’s family and friends during this devastating time.
“Matt is not only a very dedicated and successful manager, but also a person of true integrity and warmth, and is always remembered with genuine affection for all those who worked with the club. He joined LFC Women in 2012 and won the Back-to-Back Women Super League titles in 2013 and 2014, leading the Reds in their first Champion League campaign.
“After returning from the spell with the US Boston Breakers, Matt played for two years with West Ham United women in the 2019 Women’s FA Cup final, including a spell with the Bristol City women,” the statement continued.
“He rejoined the Reds in May 2021, rebuilding his team and reverting it to the top flight of women’s football. He orchestras in his first season in charge and promoted to the WSL, highlighting the FA Women’s Championship.
