Barcelona head coach Hansifrick chose not to start Marcus Rashford on Sunday evening after the forward arrived late for training. He was expected to be featured in La Liga Clash with Getafe, but his manager revealed that he had decided to x the English star. A few days after netting an incredible double with Newcastle in the Champions League, Rashford appeared to be reviving his Catalonian career.
Nevertheless, Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo reports that Rashford appeared late at the team’s morning briefing before the training session ahead of Sunday’s match. Flick reportedly revealed to Rashford that lateness was unacceptable and offered the 27-year-old the equivalent sanctions previously imposed on Jules Condo, Inaki Pena and Rafina for violating the same regulations.
Instead, Ferran Torres was chosen in the starting eleven, and Manchester United lender was replaced.
Rashford did not mark the first opportunity to be omitted due to punctuality issues.
During the outstanding 2022/23 campaign under Erik Ten Hag, the Dutch removed him from victory over the wolves.
Rashford confessed that he was demoted to the bench because of his bankruptcy, but he compensated for it when he left the bench to take a decisive goal.
Ten Hag described the violation as an “internal disciplinary issue” and chose to bench Rashford until it was featured at intervals to ensure victory.
After the match, Rashford admitted:
“I am clearly disappointed that I won’t play, but I understand the decision.
“I’m happy that I was able to win the game anyway. I think I can draw a line underneath it and move on.”
