Liverpool and Arsenal finished first and second in the Premier League last season. The Gunners will now face Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

Roy Keene believes Arsenal will be able to win the Premier League after strengthening his team during the summer transfer period. The Gunners have signed Ebebeki Eze, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke and Victor Gyoker.

Christian Norgado, Christian Mosquera, Kepa Alizabaraga and Piero Hincapie have also arrived to further improve the team’s depth. Max Dowman is now able to play for the first team of the season.

“Liverpool did what they were good at last year,” he admitted.

“City has already lost two league games, so if they lose today, we need to think there’s a long way to go (to win the league).

“If you look at both teams, I think Arsenal will probably be the closest rival to Liverpool, and I think you are still a draw today.

“They certainly have the players and all the abilities to beat the city. In the last few years, whenever they see City at Arsenal, they have never felt that Arsenal is strong enough and clearly lacks a striker in terms of trying to win a league title.

“I’m looking at the Arsenal player group right now… I think they certainly have players who can win the league.

Keene fellow critic Mika Richards later insisted that if they lose they wouldn’t write down Man City, but the Irishman said, “We’ll have to do it if they lose. Liverpool lost four (matches) last season, so if they already lost three (times) in September…”
