Manchester United boosted double injuries ahead of the Premier League clash with Chelsea on Saturday. Reuben Amorim has confirmed that both Mason Mount and Matthew Cunha have a choice. The pair missed last weekend’s Manchester Derby after being injured in the first half of their victory over Burnley three weeks ago. However, Diogo Dalot remains on the sidelines.
The defender was pulled out of the Portuguese squad at the beginning of the moon due to muscle pain. Lisandro Martinez is recovering and is beginning her grass training seven months after rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee. United head coach Reuben Amorim admitted that United missed Martinez’s “attack.”
“Darrot is out,” the Red Devils manager said at a press conference Friday. “Mason is on the team. He and Kunya are on the team. Richa is still out. I think so.
“It’s really important (that Martinez is approaching return). When you get that injury, you recover very quickly and there are some boring parts that make you seem to not go to the next step.
“We miss Richa so much. We miss him. The aggression of this moment, how aggressive he is to everything he does, we miss him. But he’s always there at every meeting. Even in training, he stays there to watch his training.
United hopes to extend their unbeaten home record against Chelsea in 12 games.
The West Londoners enjoyed their last victory at Old Trafford in May 2013, two days before United announced the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson as manager.
Alejandro Garnacho, who made his United debut against 17-year-old Chelsea, is set to return to his former club less than a month after he left.
Amorim hesitated to comment on Garnacho’s days at United, saying, “Garnacho is not our player. I’m really pleased that Mason and Cunya are back. The rest will have to talk to the Chelsea manager.”
Tyrell Malacia remains left behind by United following the closure of major European mobile windows. The Saudian Pro League and Greek Super League are still open to transfers, but Malacia will only be joining United Under 21 for training sessions.
“He’s back in contact with the ball with his under-21 teammate, then we’ll see,” Amorim added.
