Louis Van Gale was his successor and managed two seasons at the helm. Despite winning the FA Cup in May 2016, Edwood Ward & Company made the ruthless decision to plunder the Dutch boss and paid £8.4 million.
Jose Mourinho is in a hot seat and his looting remains the most expensive. In December 2018, following his third and lower start, the special season was given his march order and paid a cool £19.6 million payment after lifting three trophies during his fierce tenure.
After an incredible period as interim manager, United hoped that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would ultimately be the solution. The Red Devils legend has been in charge of nearly four years, the longer than anyone else since Ferguson left, but he reluctantly succumbed to £10 million in November 2021.

The Old Trafford Chiefs changed the tack on their next appointment and took Lal Frangnick as interim manager. The plan was intended for the acclaimed German coach to become consultants from May 2022, but he and Hierarchy had no eye on his successor and Langnick was fired for a cool £15 million.
Finally – at least for now – the exit cost for Erik Ten Hag is £14.5 million. Despite extending his contract last summer, Ir Jim Ratcliffe and the club’s new look hierarchy were sufficient for November 2024, and relied on Amorim.
