Chelsea were handed a reality check when they returned to the Champions League, and Bayern Munich powered past the British heavyweights with a 3-1 victory at the Allianz Arena. The travel blues were very encouraging, but it was silenced past Joan Pedro as if Michael Oris hadn’t been there, and the ball, whose driven crosses were deflected by Trevo Charova and the ball ended behind his own net.

Chelsea then got furious when referee Jose Maria Sanchez first swayed the play when Harry Kane was knocked over to the box, turning the decision back on the scene. The England captain did not make any mistakes when he dusted himself off to send Robert Sanchez the wrong way.

Chelsea quickly fought back when Kaiseko scored the ball on his Campions League debut, half his own and stomped Cole Palmer with a counter attack.

Kane then rounded out all three points in the game. There, the hosts edged Chelsea for the best clinical skills and utilized after Gusto handed the ball on his own half.

Here we’ll look at how Express Sports is carrying the Chelsea Star and Germany…

Chelsea player rating vs Bayern Munich

Goalkeeper

Robert Sanchez-7

Yesterday, Maresca confirmed that backup goalkeeper Philip Jorgensen would play in the Premier League match, avoiding Robert Sanchez burning out, but he saw the top shape in his distribution and did little to prevent Bayern’s goal.

He quickly made two strong saves near the time mark, first descending low to prevent Kane, rushing to Palm Ollise’s efforts when the French achieved their goals to his mercy.

defense

Malo Gusto-6

I was able to find space-time multiple times as he reminiscent of a Club World Cup exploit and pushed his right flank forward. This was evident when he set Palmer’s goal and selfishly returned the ball to his teammates when he was given a chance to shoot himself.

His partnership with Palmer was fantastic, and Enzo Maresca helped to keep the two together. However, his night is remembered with the mistake of giving Kane his second Kane and Bayern’s third goal. He tried to thrust the ball out after a heavy first touch, but it ended at Kane’s feet, ready to round out the effort past Sanchez.

Toshin Adaribioyo – 6

Kane probably made his compatriots better, of course, but Toshin Adalabioyo did the necessary aviation intervention.

Trevoh Chalobah -5

It was a pity when Oris’ cross flew across the box and Charoba pointed it to his net, but improving his footwork may have prevented the accident.

Marc Cucurella -6

He booed every time he touched the ball, and the home fans vividly remember not being punished for what they thought was handball against Germany in the Spanish Euro 2024 quarterfinals. UEFA later admitted that a penalty should be awarded. Otherwise, it was a quiet night as Ollise’s most dangerous moments appeared against his teammates.

Middle

Reese James-6

Maresca took the gamble and gave the skipper another midfield outing against the elite European opposition. He had a solid night and offered stability at the expense of another forward on the pitch.

Moises Caicedo -6

Takes Kane to the ground and Chelsea have no real complaints when the referee was finally pointing to the spot. The Bayern striker was in a strong position just within the area, but there were many defenders nearby, with few chances of scoring.

Kaiseko was able to set Palmer midway on some challenges, making up for his mistake when he ultimately scored 1-2.

Enzo Fernandez-5

Taking advantage of early pressure, he had to raise the visitors 1-0 after seven minutes, but his shot from inside the 6-yard box was blocked after he was hesitant to take Palmer’s cross. Otherwise, they would have struggled against Bayern’s midfield, not crashing the box like they did before and were unable to leave a mark in the match.

attack

Cole Palmer-8

Fernandez was given a license to attack from No. 10 and deployed to the right, but Palmer was just as effective. He often drifted inside and inspired Chelsea’s goals. It was a bright spark and annoying night for Bruce.

Joao Pedro -4

Bayern sought a mismatch when the free kick was played far apart from the Ollies, pushed against Pedro, but the Brazilians didn’t do enough to stop the man. He couldn’t make an impression on the other side of the pitch.

Pedro Neto -5

There was an early chance to score through nods in Livewires and via Alejandro Garnacho, Estevao Willian and Jamie Gittens, but should be better after Malo Gusto’s cross. Otherwise there was a bit of involvement and I was not surprised when he replaced Garnacho after 68 minutes.

Alternatives

Alejandro Garnacho (68′)-6

He was brought to the bottom left to provide an offensive impulse, but he struggled as Pedro Neto did before him.

Andre Santos (68′)-6

He fought well in the middle without fear of getting stuck.

Estevao Willian (81′)-6

With some neat touches, it would almost be a surprise if he hadn’t started Chelsea’s next Champions League match against Benfica on September 30th.
