John Toshak managed many well-known clubs across Europe in his management career, including Real Sociedad and Real Madrid, with both clubs celebrating his achievements this weekend
Liverpool legend John Toushak made a rare appearance in Spain this weekend as he was awarded an award by former club Real Sociedad.
The 76-year-old has not been discovered in the public eye in many health wars in recent years.
The former Wales and Real Madrid coach suffered from pneumonia after Covid complications and was admitted to intensive care in 2022.
However, he was honored for their diamond and gold badges, allowing him to travel to Sociedad’s Stadium in San Sebastian, the highest honor they give as a club.
Toshack was recognized after managing the Basque Club with his first spell between 1985 and 1989, and helped him win the Copa del Rey in 1987.

He then joined Real Madrid for a season in 1989 and returned to Sociedad for another three years in 1991.
After a handful of stints in Europe, including the second spell in Madrid in 1999, he returned to Sociedad for a third time in 2000, where he stayed for two more years.
Toshak was awarded prior to his match against Real Madrid, another club from a fellow Sociedad club.
The former Wales and Liverpool forward had to sit on the stool to take a photo as he shook hands with Alonso before kickoff.
Toshack made 247 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 96 goals, winning three First Division titles and the European Cup.
As manager, he won the Copa del Rey, Laliga with Real Madrid, Laliga with Real Madrid, the Spanish Super Cup, Deporti Vola Corna and the Turkish Cup in 1998.
Most recently he won a six-year stint on the Welsh National side.
