Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi admitted he was “surprising” by the Spaniard and scored the club’s first goal in a 3-0 victory at Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi surprised teammate Victor Gyoker with the heroics of goalscores in a 3-0 Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest at lunch on Saturday. Gunner returned to winning ways with a mandatory verdict over the side of Ange Postecoglou, following an international break.
Zubimendi scored the Arsenal Maiden goal in the victory. His great opener arrived in the 32nd minute, and Gyoker extended the Arsenal advantages shortly after the interval. Zubimendi then bagged the braces and scored the victory with 11 minutes remaining, earning three points.
Zubimendi isn’t famous for finding the net, but Mikel Arteta is pleased to witness him incorporate this element into his game for Arsenal, despite his colleague being caught off guard. Speaking to TNT Sports following the Final Whistle, Arsenal striker Gyoker expressed surprise at strikes for both midfielders. “I’ve never seen him do it in training so it was good that he pulled it out because I’ll be fair,” he said of the opening goal.

“Header, likewise, I was a bit surprised by it. But seeing him score two points is great.”
The encounter had an additional plot with former Tottenham Hotspur manager Postecoglou overseeing his first game in charge of Forest after replacing Nuno Espirito Santo at the club. But it was Arsenal stars who dominated the spotlight, with summer acquisitions Ebebeki Eze and Noni Madue particularly caught their eye on display.
“These two are amazing in their positions,” added Gyoker. “They always do something special, and I definitely saw it today.”
Gyoker’s strike marked Arsenal’s third goal since the summer move from Sports CP, with all three efforts coming in at Emirates Stadium. “That’s amazing. It’s a great feeling to score and get a victory,” he added.
“It feels good, the guys on the team are amazing,” he continued on about his adaptation at Arsenal. “It was very easy to join the group, but of course there’s a bit of time you have to settle for everything.”
Arsenal will return to action on Tuesday evening when they meet the athletic club away from their home in the opening match of the Champions League (5:45pm). Arsenal will not complain if Zvimendi continues to surprise his teammates with his goalscoring skill.
