Manchester United manager Reuben Amorim made a big choice decision ahead of the Manchester Derby in the Premier League on Sunday, with Altai Bayindeal nodded
Reuben Amorim was said to regret starting the Altai Bay Indeal in the Manchester Derby on Sunday as Manchester City exploits his important weaknesses.
Amorim confirmed on Friday that Bay Indeal will start at the finish line before signing Senne Ranmen. Manchester United managers were able to opt for a new arrival with Turkish International of £18.2 million.
He suggested that more decisions were made because Ranmens wasn’t particularly loyal to Bay Indeal and not ready. The 23-year-old Lammens only played for Belgium before, and Bayindir has started all three United Premier League matches this season.
Bay Indeal was responsible for Ricardo Calafiori’s goal in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over United over the opening weekend of the season. The 27-year-old fled his wings at Declan Rice’s corner and former Scotland International Craigburley.

“Along with Bayindir, I’m just putting all the set pieces on top of Haaland and him, swinging it around under the crossbar and waving it for fun,” Burley told ESPN.
“Hell, if Man City has someone who makes long throws, I’m throwing it in Rory’s Dellup style. He’s absolutely hopeless about coming out and dealing with the air ball, so I’m loading it into a box – he shows it.”
Amorim chose Bay Indeal as his starting goalkeeper this season, and Onana became a pre-season injury after a difficult 2024/25 campaign. He has not convinced the goal, and some believe that Runmen’s deadline arrival would make him the new No. 1.
“Altai will continue,” he said. “It’s different leagues, different countries, different balls (for Runmen). So they (he and Bayindil) will fight for that position. We’re really pleased – he’s a goalkeeper with a lot of potential.
“We are a moment when goalkeepers need to have really strong and have a lot of experience, but we also have to look at the present with a focus on the future.
United won the first game of the season before an international break, beating the newly promoted Burnley 3-2. But the balance in the midfield is another obvious issue that Amorim has yet to tackle, according to Burley.
“I can’t help but think about it. If it’s midfield 2, the city has to control the area, they have to do so,” he added. “And if they dominate the area as I expect, the supply lines for a wide range of players and Erling Haaland will be abundant.
“I don’t know how United dominates the middle of the park. Yeah, they have (Brian) Mbeumo and forward players who can go in behind and hurt the city, but you have to own the ball. That was a big problem for them.”
