Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Graham Roberts, who concluded six times for England, has announced he is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.
Roberts, 66, was a mainstay on the Spurs team in the 1980s, playing 278 times for the club between 1980 and 1986, earning three major honors. He also had spells with Ranger, Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion.
Roberts wrote on social media that he wants to raise funds for a prostate cancer charity. “I’m on prostate cancer radiation therapy and brazister therapy, so I want to raise funds for this charity,” he said.
“My daughter in October walks 5km every day. She’s trying to do everything she can. Donate to this,” the Spurs quote tweeted the words “We’re all behind you.”

Writing on the prostate cancer website, Roberts’ daughter Holly said:
“Prostate cancer kills one man every 45 minutes. That’s half the football game. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
“Dad also tries to go for a walk every week after treatment. He helps fund research that saves the lives of men and their families affected by the disease. Thank you.”
Roberts was part of the Spurs’ side, which won the FA Cup in 1981 and 1982, captaining Tottenham against Anderlecht in the 1984 UEFA Cup final, scoring goals that forced the match to extra time. He then scored from a penalty spot in a shootout as the Spurs beat the Belgian enemy.
