Gianluigi Donnaruma lifted the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain last season, and he now challenged his new club, Manchester City, to do the same
Gianluigi Donnarumma says winning the Champions League at New Club Manchester City will be a “dream.”
Italian goalkeeper Donnaruma joined City from Paris Saint Germanic on the deadline, in his first £27 million deal. The 26-year-old will make his city’s debut in Sunday’s Derby at Manchester United’s home, but his goal is to maintain his Champions League title, which he won last season at PSG.
“I think the Champions League is the best trophy for footballers,” Donnaruma said. “It was an emotional I can’t express (to win it). We have a game with Naples. This is difficult, but all games are difficult. There’s a strong team in Naples. I know them.
“We want to get as far as we can in the Champions League. That’s one of our goals. I’m not going to hide that. Lifting the Champions League trophy in City will be a dream for me.

“That’s one of our goals. But we have to work calmly and hard, and we have to think about the game with each game.
“But with our coaches and staff, we are sure we can go far. But now we have to work humble and think about the game with each game.”
Donnarumma said in his new challenge at City: “This is a new chapter in my life and career. Playing in City and the Premier League is a huge emotion for me and I am ready for this challenge.
“I’ve always dreamed of playing in the Premier League, because it’s the best league in the world. For players, I think achieving in the Premier League is the biggest of his career.
“I am so happy to be here and I am happy to go to the pitch of this club.
“It’s a club that has always captivated me, and I’m always happy to follow it. They’re amazing, like everything around me is in the training centre and stadium.
“I don’t know what the club’s worth until I really see it with my own eyes. I’m proud to be here and I’m pleased with the choices I’ve made. I hope to make history here and win as many trophies as possible.
“I’m very determined. I have a lot of goals. We have to unite together as a team, and for my first impression, this is something I don’t lack.
“The group and staff are great. I have great goals. I’m hungry for victory. And bringing a lot of trophies to the club, making history and winning together.
“I have won so much in my career so I always thank them for everything they have given me, but I am completely focused on my new challenge of making history and becoming a symbol of the city and club.
“But more than anything, they make their fans proud, they’re a historic club and deserve to be as high as possible, so they can win many trophies together.”
