Manchester United are keen to sign Brighton midfielder Carlos Valleva during the summer transfer, with players reportedly opening up the move

Brighton star Carlos Valleva reportedly was “very open” to move to Manchester United, despite the midfielder not completing his switch to Old Trafford. The Red Devils were unable to secure a central midfielder during their transfer period, and were deeply linked to signing Baleva for most of the summer.

Brighton quickly revealed that Valeva was not on the market and revealed that it had posted a price of £115 million on Cameroon International. United immediately notified its Premier League counterparts that they would not pursue a deal, but interest in the midfielder has not completely faded.

Reuben Amorim’s team decided to spend time trying to bolster the midfield, where Atletico Madrid star Conor Gallagher was said to be a potential target. United’s aspirations clearly include securing a future deal for Valleva.

Athletic reports that personal terms have already been agreed between Beleba and United in the hopes of a possible future move. Fabrizio Romano also suggests that players remain interested in United heading into 2026, and the club has been happy to discover that the Brighton Star is eager to travel in the summer, despite the lack of European football being offered.

The 21-year-old was particularly absent from the Cameroonian team that beat Eswatini, who saw both Brian Mbemo and Andre Onana go to the pitch. The £71 million Mbeumo, who signed United this summer, provided the assist in his country’s 3-0 victory.

It is still unknown what United planned for a midfield renovation when the January transfer window opened. It seems unlikely that Baleva’s move will be possible mid-season, and only time can tell if alternative targets have appeared in the rumored factory between now and the new year.
