Paul Scholes has questioned signing the deadline for Aston Villa’s Jadon Sancho after failing to meet expectations at Manchester United since his move from Borussia Dortmund
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Shoals claimed that Aston Villa’s move towards Jadon Sancho was “strange” in recent years after a struggle for him.
Sancho completed an in-season loan switch to Villa Park last week after being placed in the “bomb squad” by Reuben Amorim of Old Trafford. The Winger spent the past seasons away from United after failing to meet his expectations.
He spent the first half of 2024 at Borussia Dortmund before joining Chelsea last summer. Despite helping them win the conference league and qualify for the Champions League, the Bruce opposed making the move permanent.
In duplicate, YouTube personality Adam McKola described Sancho as the club’s “worst” signature after 2023, after costing £73 million from Dortmund.

After Jamie Carrager questioned his overall abilities, the Shoals agreed to a Sky Sports colleague. Speaking on the same show, he said: “(unai) Emery might be good for him, but he’s a strange signature,” he said.
“We discussed how pitch dimensions cause problems for him. Villa Park is very big. Lack of pace, lack of feet, that worries you. He has the ability, what is his strength?”
“Will he cut the inside out and crush it in the top corner? Can he defeat the man?
“He probably has the skill to pass someone, but they’ll catch him. He can’t keep going again.”
However, Sancho is confident that he can rekindle his career under villa manager Unai Emery. Speaking to Club Media, Sancho said: “When I spoke to my manager, he gave me faith and confidence.
“He showed me a plan for what they wanted to achieve this year, and it really inspired me. He definitely convinced me, and I can’t wait to work under him.
“We have to achieve big things as players, especially as a team,” he said. “We have to look at that, hopefully we can help our team achieve some of those goals.
“The team comes first, so every time my manager needs me, I’m ready.”
