Arsenal was devastated in 2025 to not lift silverware, and the club helped Declan Rice make his vision a reality after calling for change before the transfer window
Declan Rice’s wish for Arsenal, busy with the summer transfer window, was given by the club following his comments for fresh blood. And the gunner responded in a big way after firing around £250 million with the new signature.
The gunners were extremely disappointed to finish their fifth consecutive season without any major silverware. Mikel Arteta won the FA Cup in his first season just a few months after he was in charge with the Emirates, but since then he has not been able to add to his trophy cabinet.
Last season, Arsenal reached the Champions League and League Cup semi-finals, finishing second in the Premier League for the third year in a row. And after two campaigns in North London, Rice probably hinted at a frustration within the team as he expressed his belief investment in the transfer market.

“We’ll probably lose some, so we’ll strengthen in the summer and sign more players,” the England midfielder said in mid-May, shortly after Arsenal was knocked out of the Champions League semi-finals by the final Champions PSG.
“We’re back next year and ready, we’re strong and hungry to win something for this club. That’s what we all want.”
Owner Stan Kroenke responded to Arteta’s vision for several summer months by supporting him with big spending. That splurge included Viktor Gyoker, Eberechi Eze and Martin Zubimendi adding a combination of initial spending of around £170 million.
Winger Noni Maduke joined the team from Chelsea another £48.5 million, while defender Cristhian Mosquera was a more modest purchase from Villarreal for the first £13 million. The same can be said about Christian Norgaard, a £10 million purchase from Brentford, but Piero Hincapee took part in lending from Bayer Leverkusen.
As Rice predicted, there were also changes that were changed through departure as Thomas Partey, Gorguinho, Kieran Tierney and Tumeyas were each released. Nuno Tavares, Marquinhos and Albert Sambi Lokonga were the only players sold permanently, but they only had a small total, totaling about £10 million.
With these surplus as a requirement, Arteta decided not to keep Jakub Kiwior, Reiss Nelson, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira and more. They each left the club on loan deals during the season.
Gyokeres and Zubimendi have already solidified the new Arsenal XI location and have started all the club’s Premier League games this season. Madueke also joined the manager’s plan after starting his last two outings, but 15-year-old Gem Max Dowman is the latest talent to have the potential to be the first team to get off the Arsenal conveyor belt.
That’s without mentioning Eze, the £60 million man who came out of the bench to make his Arsenal debut in his recent 1-0 defeat at Liverpool. Compared to about half of the team, it is about half of the team, and the defense is a successful region without much change.
The gunners have already lost their pace in the league title race, following a slim defeat at Anfield before an international break. However, when Arsenal resumes its campaign against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, Arteta hopes to continue his new assortment.
