Manchester United have made many mistakes in the transfer market in recent years, and Jamie Carrager shared his thoughts on Jadon Sancho following his move to Aston Villa
Jadon Sancho has been accused of being barely capable in a scathing attack on the English winger from Jamie Carragher. Manchester United star Sancho also spent time on loan at Chelsea last season before joining Aston Villa on loan.
The 25-year-old hasn’t played for United since last season’s 7-minute cameo at Manchester City, a community shield penalty shootout. YouTuber Adam McKola duplicated, describing Sancho as the club’s “worst” signature. The Winger cost £73 million from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.
“Sancho has gained a reputation in Borussia Dortmund, so it’s interesting in Sancho,” Karager said. “Me and Gary (Neville) were on Sky Sports a few years ago and we didn’t see much of him, but he was really well done with Dortmund in the Champions League. We were asked to come up with an English team, and we didn’t let him in and got some sticks on social media.

“When you say he’s signing up as the worst guy for his abilities… I don’t know if there’s a lot of abilities out there. I think he’s fine, but I don’t know about him. I was critical of Marcus Rashford.
“I don’t know what Sancho’s thing is. Every player has something, but I can’t think of what he’s doing in my head. I’ve never seen it in my life.
Sancho was tied to the move to Besikutas, Rome and Juventus, among other things, before joining the villa at the transfer deadline. Villa paid 80% of Sancho’s wages, and the winger said he was “inspired” when he discussed his move with Unai Emery.

United legend Paul Shoals believes Emery can help Sancho rediscover his best form after Rashford’s encouraging mission in Birmingham last season, but he’s not confident. “Unai Emery might be good for Sancho, but I think it’s a strange signature,” Shoals said.
“Villa Park is a massive pitch and he has a lack of pace and a lack of feet. He has some glow, but what is his true strength? I really don’t know.”
Sancho was able to make his villa debut on Saturday when he traveled to Everton in the Premier League. Villa needs some performances from the new signature as they began the season with two losses and draws.
