The international break is closing, and the focus can be on the main event, the Manchester Derby. Pep Guardiola and Reuben Amorim were firmly greeted with vision as Sunday’s clash at Etihad Stadium.

City is currently sitting United’s one-point driftwood following three opening fixtures, with the Spanish boss team already suffering two losses. The international era provided Guardiola’s slight rest as Omar Marmash had to leave the pitch for nine minutes in Egypt’s World Cup qualifiers against Burkina Faso.

The forward received a large amount of tackle and initially tried to continue, but eventually succumbed to his problems and was diagnosed with a “bruise of the knee ligament.”

A statement from the Egyptian FA declared: “Dr. Mohameda Bouela, a PhD on Egyptian National Football Team, confirmed that Omar Marmash maintained a knee ligament injury during today’s match against Burkina Faso in the eighth round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

A subsequent message issued by the city said: “We can confirm that Manchester City FC has suffered a knee injury in the international mandate with Egypt. The city’s striker was injured early in Egypt’s World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday evening.

“The initial results of the scans run in Egypt show that he is not available for the Manchester Derby on Sunday, indicating that he will return to Manchester for more evaluations and begin his rehabilitation.”

But it could simply be the beginning of urban concerns, depending on whether many injured stars recover in time to face United according to their own fitness concerns.

Abdukodir Khusanov missed the Uzbekistani international with a calf problem that was expected to put him aside for two weeks, but John Stones trained in England before retreating from the squad after not shaking his muscle complaint on Friday.

Both Rico Lewis and Nico O’Reilly left their mission under the age of 21, and Rayan Ait Nouri did not travel to represent Algeria.

Guardiola’s press conference will provide you with the latest updates from Josko Gvardiol, Savinho, Marcus Bettinelli and Phil Foden.

Rayan Cherki and Mateo Kovasic remain long-term victims, with Calvin Phillips unlikely to be involved.

Amorim faces his own worries.

Diogo Darott withdraws from the Portuguese international camp after the National Federation confirmed that the defender was experiencing “muscular discomfort.”

Matheus Cunha was not available in Brazil after suffering a hamstring injury to Burnley, but there are some optimism that may not be as serious as the issue was initially feared. “What an incredible environment, it’s great to be here,” Cunha wrote on Instagram last week.

“I’m coming back soon and always feeling joy and gratitude. Thank you for all the messages.”

Mason Mount also suffered an injury during his victory over Clarett. News are expected before fixtures this weekend as they have been featured in this campaign at the 26-year-old Premier League match.

Lisandro Martinez continues to be out of him and is doubtful that he will return by the end of October, recovering from a persistent knee injury last season.
