According to Swedish manager, Alexander Isaac completed a £125 million transfer from Newcastle to Liverpool on Monday, but the 25-year-old striker is not enough to play.
Liverpool fans will have to wait to see Alexander Isaac’s best as Swedish manager John Dahl Thomason bares the reality of his current fitness level.
The Reds ended their bitter summer transfer window saga when they completed their £125 million ISAK signature on the deadline. He was a very busy summer headline for Liverpool, where he spent £450 million on his new player.
Isaac scored 27 times in all Newcastle competitions last season, finishing second behind Mohamed Sara in the Premier League Golden Boots race. And he was eventually given a dream transfer to Liverpool, but his methods were sacrificed.
The 25-year-old is on a strike in Newcastle and refuses to play for them until they admitted his desire to leave. He was forced to train himself and did not go on the Magpie preseason tour.

Isaac was called to Swedish World Cup qualifiers for an international break, but was an unused replacement as he drew 2-2 with Slovenia on Friday night. Thomason started Arsenal’s StarVictor Gyoker ahead of time with Newcastle’s £55 million summer add-on Anthony Elanga, and then explained that Isaac was never an option.
“We would have wanted to play him. Everyone wants that,” explained the Swedish boss. “But he only had three training sessions, no preseason and of course there was no match time, so it was too risky to use him today.”
When asked if Isak could play Kosovo on Monday, Thomason replied: “Hopefully, as a game changer.
His words reflect those from Isaac himself, who was open about his lack of sharpness after joining Liverpool. “Of course, I think that’s the ambition,” he told the club’s website when asked if he could play Burnley after an international break.
“But I’m not playing the game and I was training which I had limited training, so I think it’s analysing where I’m and how ready I’m to give. But I certainly want to play as soon as possible.”
He asked what could be improved. “Everything. I think there’s a lot to give. I think there’s a lot to improve. I’m a striker, but I always want to give the team as much as possible.
Liverpool have won all three Premier League matches this season, beating Bournemouth, Newcastle and Arsenal. But their performance hopes for a lot, and Slot hopes that Isak’s arrival will make a difference when he returns to action against Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday, September 14th.
