When Nottingham Forest hires a new boss, Evangelos Marinakis breaks the silence | Football | Sports

Ange Postecoglou has been officially appointed as Nottingham Forest’s new head coach. And the club’s owner, Evangelos Marinakis, broke his silence and issued a statement of intent.

Last night, it was confirmed that Nuno Espirito Santo was released from his duties on the ground in the city following the deteriorating summer criticism and worsening relations with Marinakis. Postecoglou quickly appeared as a candidate to replace Nuno, and less than 24 hours after the exit of the Portuguese manager, the former Tottenham and Celtic bosses were set up as the club’s new head coaches. Marinakis’s silence is broken with a statement outlining silverware hopes.

“We bring coaches to clubs that have a proven, consistent record of winning trophies,” said Marinakis, appointee for Post-Coglow.

“His experience coaching teams at the highest level and desire to build something special with us in Forest makes him an incredible person to help us on our journey and consistently achieve all our ambitions.

“After being promoted to the Premier League and consistently building a season after the season to secure European football, you need to take the right steps to compete with the best challenges for the trophy. Angi has the qualifications and track record to do this.

Postecoglou was let go of the former Club Spurs earlier this summer after guiding the glory of the Europa League, but finished 17th in the Premier League. He now takes over from Nuno, which originates from his dented relationship with Greek billionaire Marinakis.

Marinakis reportedly became “furious” with Nuno after the manager called Forest’s transfer strategy. He admitted in August that his relationship with the owner was “not the same” as last year.

The Portuguese manager himself admitted that his work could have been in danger before his exit was confirmed, and last month confirmed the rumours of the bag: “When there is smoke, there is fire.”

Now, Postcoglo will be at the helm when Forest plays Arsenal this Saturday. After a trip to London, Postcoglo and his men play Swansea in the EFL Cup, before a league fixture with Burnley.

As Post Coglu attempts to tackle the competition he historically won with the Spurs last year, Forest faces the real Betis in the first Europa League clash.
