Peter Crouch was forced to become the mascot of non-league Farnham Town on Saturday afternoon after finishing the bottom of the Fantasy Football League
Peter Crouch loves laughing, and the football legend brought out some in the town of non-league Farnham on Saturday – he led the side as one of their mascots.
The former England, Liverpool and Tottenham striker, now 44, is used to leading young people into games. But that was a case of a reversal of the 42-cap star role as he was punished for finishing the bottom of the fantasy football league.
The punishment was communicated by the co-hosts on the Peter Crouch Podcast, radio presenter Chris Stark and fellow retired pro Steve Sidwell. Crouchy was treated to the “Full Mascot Match Day Experience” by Farnham Bosses for the Southern League Premier Division South Game against Sholing.

The 6-foot-7-inch star attended pre-match player meetings and greetings, part of the halftime show, and had dinner with other mascots. The biggest part of the gig was walking with the player before kickoff. He wore a full fern ham kit and blended in with the rest of his mascots.
Supporters and players are used to seeing young children living their dreams of meeting heroes as matchday mascots, but are surprised when they see them squatting at Farnham’s memorial.
And the giant former hitman was appointed by attendees, signing shirts and poses for selfies. Crouch, who scored 106 Premier League goals in his career, was even able to squeeze group photos along with all the other mascots before the match began.
The supporters were excited by the stunt, fully embraced the situation and praised them for sharing their opinions on social media.
“Bloody Brilliant,” said one commentator. “What a top broke.” “I love this!” I added a third.
Sharing details on social media, Crouch showed off her mascot dinner. It consisted of zero coke, a bag of Haribo and Maryland cookies.
