The Arsenal star slapped on a huge tax bill after losing a legal battle with HMRC | Football | Sports

Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko was slapped on the Mammoth Tax Bill after lending it to Nottingham Forest. He moves to the city ground on the deadline and stays there until the end of the season. Zinchenko was signed after the Reds failed in a late attempt to land Atletico Madrid’s left-back Javigaran.

Zinchenko was barely featured by Arsenal last season and hopes to earn more time during the Forest. However, he had to worry about his tax bill first and was ordered to pay £300,000 after losing the court battle. The former Manchester City defender has also received a £35,000 bill from his accountant.

Details were revealed when Zingchenko voluntarily liquidated his image rights company earlier this week, according to The Sun.

The report says the company has guided a portion of the players’ revenues and urged HMRC to take the organization to court. In February, the court heard that the case was resolved when his team agreed to pay, but no figures were revealed.

Zinchenko was Alex Zinchenko Image Rights, the sole shareholder of the company, before Ukraine FA Artemijs Rjabovs took over and changed it to Ozir Ltd.

The defender is said to be earning around £150,000 a week under the terms of the Arsenal contract, which runs through next summer. That means it will only take him two weeks to resolve the bill.

Zinchenko is currently in charge of international missions in Ukraine, and has been featured in defeat to France over the weekend. He could play again when he leaves his home on Tuesday night and plays Azerbaijan.

When the Premier League returns later this week, he is not entitled to make his Mori debut. They face Arsenal and Zinchenko is unable to play against his parent club at Emirates Stadium.

However, he was able to feature in the Carabao Cup fixture in Swansea City a few days later.

After joining Forest on the deadline day, Zinchenko said:

The defender was a 15-league contestant for Arsenal last season and started only five of these games. He bumped into a pecking order at left back after the signature of Riccardo Calfioli and the appearance of Miles Lewis Skelly.
