Bayern Munich is already preparing for Harry Kane’s final departure, and reportedly the general knowledge that the striker will not end his career in Germany. Kane switched from Tottenham to Bayern in the summer of 2023 for £86.4m and has been in a sparkly shape ever since. The England skipper scored 91 goals in 100 appearances for the Bayern outfit, securing both the Bundesliga title and the German Super Cup.
He is very pleased with Bayern, with less than two years remaining on his existing contract. The discussion about extensions since June 2027 is currently underway, with Bayern actively pursuing strikers during their recent transfer period. After failing to pursue Nick Woltemade and Christopher Nkunku, they eventually secured Nicholas Jackson on an in-season loan from Chelsea, earning the option to make the move permanent.
According to German football expert Rafael Honigstein, Jackson will be a Bayern player for £56.2 million if he wins 50 matches in a 50 match.
“It’s no big secret that Germans don’t expect Harry Kane to see his career at Bayern,” he told Talksport.
“I think Bayern is ready for the possibility of leaving slightly earlier than the contract that runs through 2027.
“In any case, he and the club should want to see this pretty quickly, they were pushing for someone who could be both a backup and an understudy for Kane.
“They saw (Benjamin) Sesco. They saw (Nick) Ultemaid. They became Jackson and had to buy it.
“This suggests that Bayern knows that Kane could go in a year or two, but at the same time he’s so good that anyone who comes in has to play around him.
“There’s absolutely no chance Jackson will drive Kane away. He’s going to have to play with him before him or give Kane a rest in a game or two. But he’s very there to be his ultimate successor, but we’re still quite far away.”
Kane dedicated his entire professional journey to Tottenham before departing for Bayern, and is currently second among the best marksmen in the Premier League history.
His 213 strike record is the only Alan Shearer tally of 260, and Kane regularly surfaces to see him return to England to secure a milestone.
Bayern usually only deploys one central striker, while Vincent Company prefers the 4-2-3-1 system. This means Jackson will likely start replacing his Bayern stint after an international break.
Meanwhile, the club’s honorary president Uli Hornes has cast uncertainty about the long-term outlook for the organization.
When I quized on Sport1 about Jackson’s potential for a permanent deal, Hoenes responded with skepticism. “It only happens if he plays 40 games from the start.
