“It was hard to lose Cunha and Mason Mount as Mason Mount played 30 minutes with injuries,” the United boss said. “I’m worried about that because they’re so important to us, we’ll see.
“I don’t know (how they are), I don’t know. We check them out. We need really bad people to be really competitive.”
Following the set-off against Claret, Cunha suggested via social media that he would “come back soon.” Now, the Ex-Wolves forward is offering fresh updates through his Instagram stories.
Posting a photo of himself on an exercise bike in the gym, he wrote:
Cunha then shared a photo of herself showing her UFC wristband. The message “Obrigado Pela Moral” has been translated into “Thanks to Moral.”
It remains unclear whether he will be featured in next week’s Manchester Derby clash with Manchester City.
Injury experts recently claimed that Cunha’s problem is similar to that of Chelsea striker Liam Delap, but it’s not so serious.
Stephen Smith, CEO and founder of Kitman Labs, told Metro: “I’m looking at the same body area as Liam Delap.
“But we want to think it’s a lower grade injury, potentially we hear and see, in that he (Cunha) can move around very freely when he leaves the stadium.
“Grade 1 hamstring damage can usually be seen leaving the player out for 2-3 weeks. Generally, Grade 1 injuries are painful and swelling, but there is no fibre destruction or minimal destruction.
“In Grade 2, there is less fibre breakdown, which means that the muscles are slightly torn and Grade 3 is completely ruptured.
“United had to keep him in Manchester during an international break. There’s no point in putting the guy on the plane far away when he knows he won’t be able to participate.”
