Rasmus Hojlund has secured Manchester United on the deadline and heads to Napoli, and despite the obvious struggle in the Premier League, he is a better player
Rasmus Hojlund claims he arrived in Naples as a “better footballer” after two years at Manchester United, after being overwhelmed before securing a loan switch.
Dane moved to Old Trafford two years ago on a deal worth £72 million, but struggled with much of his time in the Premier League, urging the Red Devils to return to the market this summer to address their goalscore issues.
Benjamin Sesco came in and relegated Hodzilund to the squad role with a former Atalanta man who didn’t appear in early matches of the season, barely able to avoid his exit. He first made his name in Italy, and now he wants to support Naples’ ambitions.
He joined the Serie A champion and added Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruin, enjoying the opportunity to play for a successful team at United during difficult times. Despite his struggle, he saw that he scored only on league goals last year, and Hozilund is sure he will head to Napoli as an improved player.
The 22-year-old told Club Media in Naples: “Because it’s a team that just won the league. I know how amazing the fans are, I’m very pleased with the city, the opportunity. Obviously, they have more experience and better footballers.

“I played in the Premier League, the Champions League, the Europa League and several countries. I want to come and prove a lot and show myself with the best Italian team. Napoli would be very good.”
The move to Naples on the deadline for Hojlund will be the Italians obligated to buy if the Manchester outfit will receive a loan fee of £5.2 million and £38 million next summer, with Antonio Conte’s side expected to qualify for the Champions League.
Hozilund went straight to the Napoli Champions League team, which Romeru Lukaku excluded. The Belgian is currently injured and is not expected until the end of 2025. The Italians will face Manchester City and Chelsea during their European campaign.
