Liverpool saw a 22-man squad in the opening stage of the Champions League with Federico Chiesa as it appears that the Reds will go further than the final 16 exit of last season.

Liverpool has announced a 22-man team for the opening stage of the upcoming modified Champions League. The six-time champion is qualifying as a Premier League winner and is looking to improve his final 16 finish from the previous season.

The Reds will begin a league stage where 36 qualified teams face eight different opponents.

Arne Slot’s team welcomes Real Madrid, PSV Eindhoven and Qarabag to Anfield. Meanwhile, they will face Galata Salei, Eintrak Frankfurt, Inter Milan and Marseille, closing their first stage in late January.

Each club can register up to 25 players on their primary “List A” team. This should include at least eight spots reserved only for those UEFA classify as locally trained or homemade players.

Liverpool’s 22 teams have been selected by the new signatures, Florian Whartz, Alexander Isaac, Hugo Ekitique, Jeremy Fripon, Milos Kerquez, Giovanni Leoni, Giorgi Mamaldaschvili and Freddie Woodman report to Liverpool Echo.

However, Chiesa missed the opening stage selection for the competition, as only 17 non-home players are allowed on the list. Rionugmoha is believed to be not at home and only attended Liverpool last year.

Trey Nyoni and Jayden Danns are also absent from the list despite appearing in the Champions League last season, but they are eligible and can instead be included in “List B” due to their age and club-trained qualifications.

Clubs are permitted to register unlimited players on “List B” throughout the campaign, allowing makeup to be made prior to each match.

UEFA regulations outline the standards. “Players may be listed on List B if they are born after January 1, 2004 or after their 15th birthday.

“A 16-year-old player may be registered on List B if he has been registered with participating clubs for the past two years without interruption.”

If Liverpool secures qualification for the knockout round – if any of those placed between the 9th and 24 face the playoffs while the top eight advances directly to the 16th round, they will be allowed to change “List A” with three fresh eligible players, while maintaining the 25-man limit.

Liverpool Champions League Squadlist A: Allison, Mamal Dashvili, Woodman, Gomez, End, Vandic, Conate, Kerkez, Bradley, Leoni, Robertson, Frimon, Wiltz, Zobozirai, McAlistair, Jones, Gravenburch, Isaac, Sarah, Gakupo, Ekichiku,

List B (included): Nyoni, Danns, Bajcetic.
